Compass Dance have collaborated with Musical Keys on a 2 part dance project at Corton House, a residential care home for older adults.

The first stage of the project involved six 1-hour movement sessions focusing on movement and well-being. The theme of nature organically emerged during the sessions and footage of this process was captured. The footage captured from these sessions was revisited in later workshops, allowing participants to see and respond to their own movements, creating a "mirror from the past" experience that deepened their engagement with the project.

Stage two will see our community company take inspiration from this footage to create a performance piece. Through our residency with Collusion; Compass Dance explored creative technologies to develop inclusive, multi-sensory methods which will be used to further spotlight the Corton House resident during the show as we used projection methods to incorporate the footage into the sharing.

Residents will be able to watch this show via a Livestream link on the 23rd of March 2025 offering them an empowering opportunity to see themselves and their ideas reflected back to them.

Maria Widdrington (Activities Coordinator)

" This project was a unique experience for the residents here at Corton House. Rosa and Gaelin created a very inclusive, calm, fun and at times energetic space for the residents. A few of the residents were clearly hesitant but after a few weeks due to the expertise of Rosa and Gaelin opened up and clearly enjoyed the sessions.

It enabled some residents to express themselves where maybe they have not been able to previously.

The staff and 6th form volunteers who were involved also got an insight into new approaches and possibilities and I would recommend this to any care home/sheltered housing complex."
